Refund & Cancellation Policy
Last updated: September 28, 2026
1 Overview
At Maria MDS (Motor Driving School), our priority is providing high-caliber, calm, and confidence-building driving education. This Refund Policy outlines the terms under which course fee refunds, session adjustments, and booking cancellations are evaluated and processed.
All refund requests are processed in strict compliance with consumer protection standards and applicable PhonePe payment gateway procedures. This policy applies to all course fees, admission deposits, and training charges paid to Maria MDS.
2 Refund Eligibility
2.1 Full Refund Scenarios (100% Fee Returned)
- Technical Glitches: Duplicate payments or multiple debits for the same registration caused by banking or gateway errors.
- Unauthorized Transactions: Erroneous charges made without student/account-holder authorization (subject to standard banking verification).
- Course Cancellation by Maria MDS: If Maria MDS is unable to assign vehicles or certified instructors due to operational constraints.
- Advance Cancellation: Written cancellation received at least 7 calendar days before the scheduled practical training or ground orientation commencement (subject only to standard administrative processing).
- Failed Transaction Recovery: Situations where payment is debited from your bank/UPI account via PhonePe, but registration could not be generated on our system.
2.2 Partial Refund Scenarios (Prorated Balance Returned)
- Early Voluntary Withdrawal: Student withdraws after attending initial driving sessions (calculated based on completed practical hours and ground sessions).
- Documented Medical Emergency: Incapacity to continue driving due to genuine medical conditions, supported by a medical certificate from a registered physician.
- Unplanned Relocation: Permanent transfer or relocation outside the Kayamkulam / Alappuzha training area making lesson attendance physically impossible.
2.3 Non-Refundable Scenarios
- Course Completion: Once a student has completed their enrolled practical sessions, test ground drills, or attended the scheduled RTO driving test.
- Late Cancellation: Cancellation notices submitted less than 48 hours before the first scheduled training session.
- No-Shows & Chronic Absences: Failure to attend scheduled 1-on-1 practical driving slots without giving at least 24 hours advance notice.
- RTO Test Results: Failure to clear the Kerala Motor Vehicles Department (KL-31) 'H' test, road test, or computer learner exam (re-test coaching and new slot booking are arranged as per standard re-test procedures).
- Statutory Government Fees: Official Kerala RTO fees (LLR fees, DL slot booking fees, Form 1A fees, Parivahan portal charges) paid directly to or remitted on behalf of the government are strictly non-refundable.
- Safety Violations / Misconduct: Termination of student enrollment due to reckless behavior, intoxication, verbal abuse, or endangerment of instructors or pedestrians.
3 Refund Calculation & Fee Structure
When a partial refund is approved, the refundable amount is determined using a transparent, equitable formula:
Administrative Handling Fee
10% of total course package fee (capped at a maximum of ₹500) to cover initial admission processing, student file creation, and scheduling administration.
Prorated Practical Sessions
Completed dual-control practical sessions and ground training are deducted at our standard individual session rate (e.g. ₹400 per completed lesson).
